Loren Pinckney Waldo was born in Canterbury, Connecticut on February 2, 1802. A lawyer, he served in many offices in Connecticut state government before winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1849. Although he only served one term, he was the chairman of the Committee on Revolutionary Pensions and later became the Commissioner of Pensions from 1853-1856. He died in Hartford, Connecticut on September 8, 1881.
