James Haskins was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland on September 11, 1751. A resident of Granville County, North Carolina, he served two tours in the Granville County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. A farmer, he later successfully applied for a pension and also made sworn affidavits in support of his comrades' applications. He died in Granville County on August 4, 1834.
