Biographical Description
Maurice Smith was born in Granville County, North Carolina on May 6, 1776. A colonel in the War of 1812, he later served as a justice of the peace for Granville County and was a judge of the court of pleas and quarter sessions. He died in Granville County May 21, 1835.
