Biographical Description

James Chamberlain Jones was born in Davidson County, Tennessee on April 20, 1809. A Whig politician, he represented Wilson County in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1337-1841. In 1841, he became of the Governor of Tennessee, serving through 1845. He later served in the U.S. Senate from 1851-1857. He died in Memphis, Tennessee on October 29, 1859.
