James Wilson was born in North Carolina in about 1761. During the American Revolution he lived in Orange County, North Carolina with his parents, where he witnessed Lydia Miller and Joseph Ray travel to their marriage ceremony. He later moved to Smith County, Tennessee, where he made an affidavit in support of Lydia Ray's widow's pension application. He died sometime after 1850.
