James A. Todd was born in North Carolina in about 1782. A farmer in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, he attended the same church as Susanna Alexander. In 1851 he made a sworn affidavit in support of Alexander's widows pension claim stating that he knew she was married to a revolutionary war veteran. He died in Mecklenburg County in 1862.
