Dennis McCurdy was born in County Antrim, Ireland in about 1789. After working twenty-two years as a teacher, he became a clerk in the U.S pension office from 1834 to 1840. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he published a book on geometry and worked as a math teacher. He died in Baltimore on July 25, 1855.
