Biographical Description

James Shipman was born in Bladen County, North Carolina on June 13, 1751. He served as a captain in the Bladen County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia under the command of Colonel Thomas Brown. He later made an affidavit in support of Lucy Brown's pension application. He died in Columbus County, North Carolina on January 4, 1844.
