William Montgomery was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on December 29, 1789. A physician, he represented Orange County in the North Carolina State Senate from 1824 to 1827 and from 1829 to 1834. He also served as a Democratic representative to the U.S. House from 1835 to 1841. He died in Orange County on November 27, 1844.
