Bartlet Pettiford was a free person of color born in North Carolina in about 1760. A resident of Granville County, North Carolina at the time of the Revolution, he witnessed his sister Rachel marry Valentine Locus and later made a sworn affidavit attesting to that fact in his sister's widow's pension application. He later resided in Wake and Franklin counties. He died sometime after 1850.
