Biographical Description

William Rowzee was born in North Carolina in 1810. In the 1850s he began operating the Mansion House, a hotel in Salisbury. In 1870 George W. Kirk's troops visited Salisbury, Rowan County after arresting someone on insurrection charges, and democratic newspapers later claimed that Kirk's men fired into the Mansion House by mistake. He died in Salisbury in February 1886.
