James Marion Parrott was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina on January 7, 1874. Parrott was a physician from Kinston (Lenoir County) who served as president of the North Carolina Medical Society (1913-1914), as executive secretary for the State Board of Health, and as State Health Officer (1931-1934). He died in Raleigh on November 7, 1934.
