Biographical Description

Joseph Hancock (d. 1786) was a politician who represented Hyde County at several sittings of the North Carolina Provincial Congress and in the North Carolina General Assembly (1777-78). He was also a justice on the Hyde County Court and in 1777, as a member of that court, he helped oversee the collection of loyalty oaths from the county's white male citizens.
