John Suter, Jr., was born in North Carolina on November 17, 1879. In New Bern, Suter worked as a salesman and eventually as a furniture merchant. In 1914, he signed a petition demonstrating his support of W. W. Lawrence being appointed notary public. He died in Wilson (Wilson County) on November 24, 1960.
