Biographical Description

The Highland Spruce Company was chartered to "buy, sell and deal in timber, grazing, mineral and orchard lands, etc." in March 1912. The named incorporators were John S. Adams of Asheville and F. A. Drewry and M. L. Foster of Worcester, Massachusetts. The timber company owned several acres on Mount Mitchell at the time of the state's efforts to acquire the mountain in 1915.
