Thomas Benjamin Ledbetter was born in North Carolina on December 12, 1862. Ledbetter owned a farm in Broad River Township (McDowell County) where he lived and worked for most of his life. During World War I, he served as the head of the local draft board. Ledbetter died at his home on September 17, 1938.
