Biographical Description
Charles "Charlie" Grady Mathis was born in North Carolina on February 26, 1898. Mathis was a merchant in Elkin (Surry County), North Carolina. His store in Elkin, the C. G. Mathis Grocery, suffered severe damage in a July 1916 flood. He died in Elkin on May 8, 1975.
