Anna W. "Annie" Greenwood (née Booth) was born in Wake County, North Carolina on December 14, 1863. Her husband, John Claude Greenwood, died in March 1915, and she remained a widow for the rest of her life. In July 1916, a devastating flood pushed the Yadkin River beyond its banks, destroying the Elkin-based manufacturing plant that was the source of her income. She died in Statesville (Iredell County) on November 9, 1947.
