Philip Alexander Hauser was born in Winston-Salem (Forsyth County), North Carolina, on April 19, 1843. During the Civil War, Hauser served as a private in the Confederate cavalry. After the war, he worked as a farmer in Lewisville (Forsyth County) until his death there on December 8, 1929.
