Biographical Description

Alexander Macauley (died 1766) was an Ireland-born politician, ecclesiastical lawyer, and King's Counsel who authored influential political treatises. His last name may also be found spelled as "MacAulay" or "McAuley" or some other variation thereof. He was a friend of colonial governor Arthur Dobbs.
