Biographical Description

Jacob Simons (d. 1796) was a resident of Chowan County. In 1778 he signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence. Later he continued to support the cause of independence and received compensation from the US military for supplying them with foodstuffs.
