Francis Williamson (d. 1802) was a resident of Currituck County. A local politician, he served in the North Carolina Colonial Assembly in 1773 and later in the Second Provincial Congress in 1775. Later after several men testified that they witnessed Williamson cast bullets for loyalists and make statements in opposition to the pro-independence movement, he was listed as a prisoners being held at the Edenton District Court of Oyer and Terminer. While there is no concrete evidence linking Williamson's actions to the larger Gourd Patch Conspiracy, the timing and nature of the charges against him likely caused court officials to conclude he was part of a larger plot. He had to appear before the Edenton District Superior Court in May 1778 to face charges, and he was discharged without bond.
