Biographical Description

William Howard was a resident of Tyrrell County. In 1777 he became a member of the Gourd Patch Conspiracy after taking an oath of secrecy administered by John Garrett. Howard later appeared on a list of witnesses prepared to give evidence against Garrett at the Edenton District Superior Court of Oyer & Terminer after the plot was uncovered and its leading conspirators put on trial.
