Biographical Description

John Penn (1740-1788) was a resident of Granville County and one of North Carolina's three signers of the Declaration of Independence. He served in the Continental Congress from 1755-1780. In 1777 he received updates regarding the Gourd Patch Conspiracy while sitting in Congress in Philadelphia.
