Biographical Description
John Molton served as the sheriff for Duplin County and was also a captain in the Duplin County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia from 1776-1780. In July 1777 he carried a letter to Governor Richard Caswell informing him of a possible loyalist plot in that county.
