Biographical Description

Edward Whitmore (circa 1694-1761) was a British army officer who rose to the rank of major-general during the Seven Years' War. He played a prominent role in the capture of Louisbourg in 1758 and served as governor of Cape Breton and the Island of St. John until December 1761.
