Biographical Description

John Hamer served as deputy receiver for Anson County from 1755 through at least 1757. In that year, he gave a deposition explaining his inability to collect rents. According to Hamer, Anson County residents were "unanimously resolved" to not pay rents until the boundary line between the Carolinas had been "fixed."
