Edgar Wright Moore was born on July 1, 1893, in Watha, North Carolina. Moore was a laborer for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad when he registered for the draft (World War I) in June 1917. He was subsequently inducted into the service in September 1917 and served with the 321st Infantry and the 55th Depot Brigade until his death from pneumonia on October 11, 1918.
