Biographical Description

Augustus Washington Knox was born on May 6, 1849, in St. Louis, Missouri. Knox was a physician in Raleigh, North Carolina. He taught at the Leonard Medical School (part of Shaw University) and the medical school at the University of North Carolina. Additionally, he was a trustee of Rex Hospital and president of the North Carolina Medical Society. He died in Raleigh on May 9, 1936.
