Marcus Cicero Stephens Nobel was born on March 15, 1855, in Louisburg, North Carolina. Noble was an educator, banker, and author who served as a trustee (1899 to 1940) and president of the board (1907 to 1940) for what is now North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
