Biographical Description

Joshua Loring (1716-1781) was a Massachusetts-born British naval officer. During the Seven Years War, Loring served in the Great Lakes area, in particular Lake Champlain, Lake George, and Quebec. In 1760, he led a command at the Battle of a Thousand Islands, one of the last major engagements of the war.
