Harry Gambol Walker was born on August 22, 1889, in Creswell, North Carolina. At the time of the June 1917 registration drive for military service during World War I, Walker was twenty-seven years old with no dependents and was employed as a general manager of his father’s (Augustus G. Walker’s) store. He had prior military service as a commissioned officer in the North Carolina naval reserves. Walker died in Washington (Beaufort County) on May 9, 1978.
