Biographical Description

Jessie Binga Wood (née Atkins) was born in Manchester, Virginia, on September 6, 1902. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University (1924) and a Master of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. Following her marriage to Clarence W. Wood in 1934, she resided in New York City, where she worked as a social investigator for the Department of Welfare.
