Walter Scott Foster was born in Wake County, North Carolina, on June 27, 1872. Foster was a minister in the A. M. E. Zion Church who was ordained at just sixteen years of age. His work took him to various places in Virginia and at Plymouth, Whitehall, Goldsboro, and Snow Hill in North Carolina. Reverend Foster died in Goldsboro on December 13, 1929.
