Biographical Description
J. Wiley Shook was born in North Carolina on April 14, 1857. A native of Haywood County, Shook was a minister-turned-attorney and Republican operative in Asheville who served for a time as a deputy collector in the Internal Revenue Service. He died in Morganton (Burke County) on November 5, 1907.
