Biographical Description
Thomas Settle Jr. was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on January 23, 1831. Settle was a legislator, solicitor, diplomat, state supreme court justice, and founder and leader of the state's Republican Party. He died in Raleigh on December 1, 1888.
