Thomas Symons was born in about 1649 and arrived in North Carolina by April 1669. A resident of Pasquotank Precinct, he served as a justice of the local court from 1690 to 1694 before representing Pasquotank in the North Carolina Colonial Assembly in 1695. From 1695 to 1696 he was a member of the North Carolina Council and later served on the North Carolina General Court from 1698 to 1704. He died in Pasquotank on April 18, 1706.
