Luke Mizell was born in Virginia in about 1682. He later moved to North Carolina, settling in Bertie Precinct, North Carolina. In 1722 he came before the North Carolina Council when he was accused of assaulting a Tuscarora man by ordering his dog to attack the man while out hunting. No verdict in the case was recorded. Mizell died in Bertie in about 1758.
