Thomas Amy was a wealthy North Carolinian colonist. In the summer of 1701 he had a threatening interaction with a group of Bay River Indians while in Bath County, though the American Indians and the colonists disagreed on who was the aggressor. Amy may have been the same Thomas Amy who acted as a longtime agent and deputy proprietor for the colony from about 1683 until his death in 1704. However, no additional documentation has been found demonstrating that Thomas Amy the proprietor ever left England and visited North Carolina.
