Cullen Pollock was born in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina in 1697. The son of a successful politician and attorney, Pollock served as a judge on the North Carolina General Court in 1722 while his father was governor. He became a member of the North Carolina Council in 1733 and also became a justice of the colony's supreme court in 1734. He died in North Carolina in 1750.
