Biographical Description
Nicholas Collin Hughes was born in Chocowinity (Beaufort County), North Carolina on June 20, 1856. Hughes was a lifelong minister and educator who served as chaplain for the state prison farm in Halifax County from 1917 to 1919. He died in Hendersonville (Henderson County) on October 20, 1947.
