Harriette "Hattie" Newell Vance, née Espy, was born in Burke County, North Carolina, on July 11, 1832. Harriet was the wife of Zebulon Baird Vance, a North Carolina politician. She died in Raleigh (Wake County), North Carolina, on November 3, 1878.
