Biographical Description

Josiah James Evans was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on November 27, 1786. A lawyer, he served as a judge of the state circuit court from 1829-1835. He later served as a senator in the U.S. Congress from 1853-1858. He died in Washington, DC on May 6, 1858.
