Biographical Description

James Ferguson Dowdell was born in Georgia on November 26, 1818. A lawyer, he represented Alabama in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1853-1859. He later served as a Confederate colonel during the Civil War. He died in Auburn, Alabama on September 6, 1871.
