Biographical Description
Sylvester Bettis was born in New York on May 11, 1780. A resident of Burke County, North Carolina, he served as a justice of the peace and later as a judge for the court of pleas and quarter sessions. Later in life he worked as a tanner and merchant. He died in Burke County on May 18, 1877.
