George Washington was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia on February 22, 1732. A surveyor in Culpeper County, Virginia, he originally made a name for himself as colonel of the Virginia Regiment during French and Indian War. He later became Commander in Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He was the first President of the United States, serving from 1789 to 1797. He died at Mount Vernon in Virginia on December 14, 1799.
