Edith I. Judd (née Royster) was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 25, 1874. Judd was an educator who served as assistant superintendent of public instruction for Wake County schools (1910–1915), a professor of history at Peace Institute, president of the Primary Teachers Association, president of the Wake County School Betterment Association (1902-1915), and chairman of the legislative committee of the North Carolina Federation of Woman's Clubs. She died in Lee County, Alabama, on May 5, 1959.
