Biographical Description
James Marshall Bumgarner was born in Reddies River (Wilkes County), North Carolina, on May 19, 1877. Bumgarner served as chief deputy sheriff of Wilkes County from 1900 until 1928, when he was appointed a deputy U.S. marshal. He died in Wilkesboro (Wilkes County) on March 26, 1937.
