Biographical Description
Laban Lineberger Jenkins was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on December 8, 1864. Jenkins was a prominent banker, industrialist, and Republican Party booster who advocated for the development of Western North Carolina. The Great Depression brought an end to his banking endeavors. He died in Asheville (Buncombe County) on March 28, 1933.
