Jim Wilson was accused of the January 1914 murder of Johnston County resident Lillie Lynch. Before he could face the accusations in court, a white mob broke the county jail on the afternoon of the 27th, abducted Wilson, and murdered him. Unfortunately not much is known about Wilson's history. Newspapers reported that he was not known in the community at the time of his death, perhaps meaning he was an itinerant laborer, and that he was rumored to be from Wilmington. No further information could be found.
